News
I started out writing for The Vision news section. This taught me journalistic style and how to act as a reporter.
Whirlwind of a prom
The Lion Hills Center was “Heaven on Earth” for a night as it was transformed for the 2019 MSMS Prom. Junior class officers, Alisha Burch (President), Gina Nguyen (Vice President), Alicia Argrett (Secretary), Chloe Jackson (Treasurer) and Reggie Zheng (Historian), prepared all school year to ensure that prom would run as planned with the help of the junior class sponsors.

Opinion
Opinion pieces were never a big focus for me last year. However, this year one of my favorite articles I wrote was an editorial on the dress code at MSMS.
Editorial: The dress code is not the issue, the Bible Belt is
In an effort to create a more accepting environment, the MSMS Student Government Association has chosen to tackle the timeless debate on public school dress codes. In the South, students do not follow a written dress code. Even in the absence of rulers, their skirts are measured in years of tradition.

Wiygul: The death of Black Friday
The day after Thanksgiving may end in two polar events: Some choose to spend their Fridays after Thanksgiving groaning about how much turkey they ate, and others choose to stay up all night to participate in Black Friday the next day.

Every year there is another list of people harmed, and every year the list grows to sound like Thanksgivings own twelve days of Christmas. " |
Wiygul: An artificial Christmas tree is better for the environment
In this span of 11 years of one household reusing an artificial Christmas tree, another might go through 11 real trees. " |
As it grows closer to Christmas, almost every household in America is going to buy some type of tree. Many may get a real Christmas tree, because they like the smell or because it’s a tradition. Real trees, however, can be more harmful to the environment.

Entertainment
Entertainment writing has always been where my writing style shined. I wrote many entertainment pieces last year with one long form this year about Indie music. My article, "The Billie Eilish Experience", is the currently the most popular piece on The Vision, receiving over three thousand views. The review I did on The Umbrella Academy also did well with over seven hundred views.
The Billie Eilish experience
Billie Eilish, age 17, has been a rising music star for a few years now. In 2016, she blew up with her first single, “Ocean Eyes” and has quickly amassed thousands of fans. Now all of those fans are going wild after Eilish released her debut album on March 29, “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO,” which has become a rapid success and is now heading to be the No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 charts.

Wiygul: Will Indie music take over the new ‘Roaring Twenties’?
The twenties are coming, “roaring” over the horizon as the 2010s come to an end. The past decade was full of international pop culture as the internet shaped our most memorable moments from Carly Rae Jepson’s “Call Me Maybe” to Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road.” The question now is what will be the music of this new decade?

A new age of superheroes: "The Umbrella Academy"
Netflix has been riding the wave of superheroes’ popularity by making every superhero show imaginable. Some of them have been very successful while others were quickly forgotten . A successful Netflix installment is new series, “The Umbrella Academy,”based off of comic books written by My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way.

Movie review: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
The long-awaited part two of the new series of movies serving as a prequel to the beloved “Harry Potter” movies came out Nov 16. While not receiving a high score on Rotten Tomatoes, “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is not fundamentally a bad movie. It is just riddled with plot holes that are glaringly obvious to anyone that has read the Harry Potter books.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ marks end of traditional Avengers
“The Avengers” came to an end with a big boom of a movie that combined every possible nostalgic element that Marvel spent more than 20 movies building. While it was overall a good movie, there were certainly some parts that fell short of expectations. The “Hulkish” fanservice from the writers and directors, however, left everyone in the theater clapping.

Student Life
The student life articles I have written have been to indulge in interesting peoples' lives. I enjoyed getting to interview and learn more about my peers.
