Law and Ethics
For the past few months The Vision editorial staff has been working on a publication policy. Our combined efforts will be a legacy for the following classes. While we have all been editing and revising, I was in charge of making sure the social media and multimedia sections were up to the high standards of our publication. The policy is currently under review by the administration.
News Gathering
One of my favorite parts of journalism is getting to go out into the field and report live on news stories. This is why I love going out to video and interview people for our Youtube channel. The video interviews of our teacher alumni had me running across campus for weeks to film, and the Waverly Mansion video took going to the middle of nowhere in West Point, MS and trudging through mud and the woods to get the best shots of the house.
Whenever we have a large event at the school like Science Carnival, we have a person live tweeting the event. The best example of an event is the Trump rally in Tupelo, MS. We went with press passes to take pictures/videos, hold interviews, and live tweet. In particular, I was in charge of live-streaming the event, which was something we had never experimented with before.

News Literacy
While writing articles, editing videos, or recording podcasts I always try to uphold the standards of a major publication company. All the facts must be true and double checked through multiple sources. Everything produced must be relevant to the news of the time. Also, any article must follow the guidelines of that writing style. For example, for every news article written we maintain that there must be at least three quotes from people who represent different aspects of the student body.
