Social media innovation
When I started as the Social Media Editor The Vision's Instagram account had little over three hundred followers and all of our social media outlets combined did not not reach over one thousand. I was determined to revamp our social media accounts as I started posting at least two times a week and started creating Instagram stories and highlights.
Recognizing that Facebook and Twitter are dying platforms for our target demographic, I channeled most of my creative energy into Instagram. I also moved our reach over to more modern platforms by creating a Youtube channel and a new podcast. These combined efforts made both the students and the parents pay more attention to our sites. The Vision's news site is now getting more views than ever as people come in from social media.
Bringing back the Youtube and podcasts also created another opportunity for me. I have taken over a new position, Multimedia Editor, until it can be passed on to the next editorial staff as a new editor position. This has opened up many new avenues for innovation and creativity in what I want to do with the newspaper.
